To evaluate the effect of supplementary irrigation on grain yield and some agronomic traits of wheat, 23 advanced bread wheat genotypes were studied in drought stress and supplementary irrigation condition during 2008-10 cropping seasons at Maragheh research station and different agronomic traits were recorded. Analysis of variance revealed significant differences among genotypes in two experimental conditions for all the traits. Combined analysis of variance showed significant differences for all traits in environments (P = 1%). Plant height, 1000 kernel weight, spike length, seed number in spike, spikelet number in spike, grain and biological yield, harvest index and number of fertile spike in square meter were significantly different in genotypes. G × E interaction effects showed significant differences for plant height, 1000 kernel weight, seed per spike, grain and biological yield and harvest index (P = 5%). Means of grain yield in supplementary irrigation and rainfed conditions were 4412 and 2989 kgha-1, respectively, and supplementary irrigation significantly increased 1423 kgha-1 grain yield of genotypes compared to the rainfed condition. Supplementary irrigated significantly increased fertile spike per square meter (134), HI (3%), TKW (4 g), B.Y. ( >2.96 tha-1) and GFP (4 days). Based on these results, genotypes G16 (PYN/BAU//BONITO) and G17 (SUBEN-7) with 5256 and 5109 kgha-1 grain yield and 11.9 and 11.8 tha-1 biomass yield, respectively were highly adapted to supplementary irrigated environment.
