The choice of a suitable breeding procedure depends on knowledge of the genetic system controlling the character to be selected. The objective of this study was to determine genetic parameters for yield and it’s associated traits, using analysis of generation means (P1, P2, F1, F2, BC1 and BC2) derived from crossing K3218 with K74/1 and K3653/5 inbred lines of corn. All generations were planted in a randomized complete block design with three replications in 2005. The significant differences among six generations were observed for all the studied traits of both crosses. Generation means analysis indicated that dominance genetic effects were more important than additive and epistatic effects in the inheritance of majority of studied traits. Average broadsense heritabilities were between 41% and 70% and between 33% and 83% and the range of narrowsense heritabilities were between 0% and 57% and between 1% and 73% for all traits in K3218 × K74/1 and K3218 × K3653/5 crosses respectively.
