Peer Review Process of Manuscript in the Seed and Plant
1- Registering and entering authors’ information, uploading the letter to Editor-in-Chief, letter of no-conflict of interest, report of similarity check from a credited reference, and the manuscript main file that has been prepared and developed according to the “Guidelines for Authors” of the journal, by the corresponding author.
2- Preliminary evaluation of the manuscript by Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board for formatting and contents, respectively. Should they approve it, the process will continue.
3- Should it be necessary, the manuscript would be returned to the corresponding author for implementation of suggestions/corrections to improve its quality, and re-submission.
4- Assigning the manuscript to three peer reviewers in the field of the subject.
5- Reviewing of the manuscript by the reviewers for the quantity and quality of contents and information. In this stage three likely situation may happen:
a: Two reviewers reject the manuscript; it would be ousted from the process and the corresponding author would be informed.
b: Minor or major revisions is suggested by the reviewers. The manuscript, with the reviewers’ suggestions and comments, is returned to the corresponding author.
c: Should the reviewers not respond in time, the manuscript would be assigned to other reviewers.
6- The manuscript, with the reviewers’ suggestions and comments would be returned to the corresponding author for correction and revision of the manuscript. The corresponding author should return the revised manuscript not later than two weeks.
7- Assigning of the revised manuscript to the final reviewer for controlling the revisions made by the corresponding author.
8- Receiving the final reviewer’s comments on acceptance or rejection of the manuscript, or more revisions.
9- Editor-in-Chief will share the report of reviewing process to the Editorial Board. The final decision on acceptance or rejection of the manuscript would be made.
10- Should the manuscript be rejected, the corresponding author would be informed accordingly. If it is accepted, the process would continue.
11- Accepted manuscript would be edited and formatted, and uploaded in “Articles in Press” section of the journal’s system for two weeks. Should the corresponding author ask for some editing, it would be implemented in the article before publishing.
12- After two weeks, the edited and formatted article would go through the final control, and then is uploaded and published on the journal’s system.
13- It is necessary to mention that the whole process is double-blind review.
14- Usually, this process, for accepted articles, takes two to three months.
