 Peer Reviewed Journals of Seed and Plant Improvement Institute

The first issue of peer reviewed journals of Seed and Plant Improvement Institute, “Seed and Plant Journal”, was published in autumn of 1980. Until 1990, six volumes of this journal was published. Since 1991 it has been published regularly, and earned scientific-research status from the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology of Iran in 1997. To comply with policies of the scientific-research journals commission of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology of Iran, from 2009 the Seed and Plant Journal was published as two specialized peer reviewed journals:

1- Seed and Plant Improvement Journal (SPIJ)

2- Seed and Plant Production Journal (SPPJ)

These journals published as quarterly in four issues. From 2015, Seed and Plant Production Journal published as biannual with two issues per year.

Crop Breeding Journal (CBJ), in English language, is published as biannual with two issues per year, since 2011.

From 2012, a new scientific-extension journal with the name of Research Achievements for Field and Horticultural Crops (RAFHC) is published as biannual with two issues per year.

In 2019, based on the rule and regulations no. 3104 dated 10/05/2019, approved by the scientific-research journals commission of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology of Iran, all scientific-research and scientific-extension journals that obtained peer reviewed certificates from the commission are recognized as scientific journals.

In 2019, in meetings with the editorial boards of Seed and Plant Improvement Journal and Seed and Plant Production Journal, it was suggested that these two journals should be integrated in one, with the name of the Seed and Plant Journal, and published from March 2020. This suggestion was approved by the scientific-research journals commission of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology of Iran, and the Seed and Plant Journal is published from March 2020.

Information about these journals also can be searched on the web sites of Seed and Plant Improvement Institute (http://www.spii.ir) and Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization (https://www.areeo.ac.ir) as well as on each journal’s website. Also backups: on CDs, USB, Storage hard disk, and several websites and databases and open repositories are preserved, for long term.

We hope we can continue the evolutionary trend and promote the quality of these journals with collaborations and contributions of all Iranian scientists.
